Master of Architecture (M.Arch)

Program Overview

Project Management Consultancy is the upcoming field in Market Today. For any project whether be it Greenfield or Brownfield Development, for the project to be executed smoothly, it requires to be planned and monitored in a cohesive manner.
M. Arch (Project Management) is a course designed to impart theoretical and the practical knowledge of site planning, tendering, supervision and execution.

About

The course is approved by Council of Architecture and affiliated to University of Mumbai. It is designed for a duration of 2 years (Full time) which constitutes to 4 semesters.

 

Semester I

Comprises of theory subjects related to management principles, planning and monitoring of projects and the Basic legal knowledge required with respect to design and execution. The Studio and Elective subjects are related with construction Materials and managing them on site. It also involves the hands on knowledge of various software related to Project Planning.

Comprises of theory subjects related to Management Accounting, Contract Management, administration and also explores studies of Construction Equipment and Human resource. The Studio and Elective subjects also teach the systemized approach of Research methodologies and Advance Construction Methods.

Semester III takes forward the learnings of semester 2 while the Studio and Elective subjects impart knowledge about in-depth Analysis in relation to the construction material and project execution. The student identifies the topic for Design Dissertation and prepares the problem statement of the same

Semester IV – is the final semester of the course. The Elective in this course relates to software and allied knowledge implied to the Design Dissertation topic which is continuation of the problem statement derived in Semester 3 of the course.

The Design Dissertation subject is the analysis and continuation of the Problem statement derived in Semester 3.

Sessional Work

Sessional work in the M. Arch. Course can be defined as mandatory assignments carried out by the students in the classroom or the studio during the semester (session).

Theory Paper & External Viva

At the end of each semester, students undergo Theory paper examination and External Viva as prescribed by the University of Mumbai.
