Course: Full Time Degree
The Bachelor of Vocational Studies (Interior Design) Course is a Three year degree course run in six semesters, as per Credit based Grading System defined by University Of Mumbai. Interior Design addresses the importance of human habitat and the built environment that supports human activities and values. It generates order to the space occupied by people, by making one aware of how the space influences our identity, productivity and wellness. As an interior designer one has the vital task to create intentional spatial interactions that can have a positive effect on human beings in whichever space they may inhabit – working, living or recreational. The Interior Design program is built to initiate a thoughtful and reactive design process. It facilitates the students to understand and create human habitation spaces through varied understandings of theory, studio, practical skills, live projects, case studies, field trips and encounters with industries and professionals. It also aims at inculcating an environmental awareness within the student for the benefit of human health, wellbeing and productivity. The students are trained in representative skills through regular studios and a team of specialized Design Faculty that focus on Freehand drawing, Technical drawing and Model making. These skills are further supplemented through elective subjects such as Interior Lighting, Interior Landscape, Sustainable Interior, Set Design, Interior Project Management, Furniture Design and Product Design. The program aims at promoting a holistic approach to the designing process by simultaneously involving inputs from theory, allied subjects and electives into design. The program pushes the student to become an independent and effective learner and opens up a range of prospects on completion of the course. The industry offers opportunities to young designers in large set ups of architecture, interior design, kitchen design and exhibition design practices. Graduates are equipped to begin their own practice or further their education by applying to study in post-graduate programs ranging from furniture, exhibition, product and interaction design to craft & technology, history- theory- criticism and Energy efficiency & green design.Academic Programme

COURSE INFORMATION
The course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Vocation (Interior Design) shall be a full time course, comprising of six semesters. Each semester shall have the duration of One Academic term is of 18 weeks. There will be an examination at the end of each Semester.A candidate for the Degree of Bachelor of Vocation (Interior Design) examination will be required to pass all the six Semester examinations spread over 3 years of 6 semesters, As per the University ordinance 75% attendance is compulsory for keeping the term.

- Each academic year consist of 2 semester terms, one ending in October/November and second ending in April/May.
- A Minimum Of 40% Of Full Marks in Theory & 40% Of Full Marks in Sessional Work are required for Passing. 40% Of Marks are required to Pass the External Viva. Aggregate Marks of each Subject should be 40% of total Marks for Passing.
- Minimum Credit required for B.Voc. degree is 166. Out of which (30*5) = 150 Credits divided into Theory Courses, Studios, Electives, Seminar & Projects in duration of 5 Semesters & 16 Credits in 6th Semester will be granted for completion of Professional Practice of 16-18 Weeks duration .
- Examinations for Semester I, II, III & IV is conducted by College. Examinations for Sem V & SemVI is Conducted by University of Mumbai as per the scheme of the examination as prescribed in the syllabus.
- The University of Mumbai employs Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) scheme to evaluate performance of student. The overall and grades obtained by a student in each academic semester is as follows:
