After graduating from the L.S. Raheja School of Architecture in 1992, Ar. Swati Ray proceeded to hone her skills and gain exposure to international architecture by doing her Masters in Architecture (design) from the University of New South Wales, Australia. She commenced her journey as a professional in 1994 and since then has worked on a variety of projects with well-established firms like Malik Architecture and Somaya and Kalappa Consultants. Her experience is spread across a varied spectrum of building typologies like Educational institutions, commercial complexes, IT campuses, retail outlets, Healthcare and Industrial Buildings-their size ranging from a built up area of 3000-100000 sq.m.
Her involvement in these projects has been from conceptualizing the design, coordinating with clients and consultants and ensuring that the building is completed on site as per design intent, within the requisite time and budget. She believes that, “Architecture should to create environs that enhance the site, interact with the users and respond to the environment. The articulation of the spaces should provide an instinctive path for easy circulation and at the same time exhibit effective use of the available space. Architecture is not just the science of building of an object on a site but a reinvention of the site itself.”
